This is a decoder, not a live NOTAM feed
There is no free, keyless public API for retrieving live NOTAMs — the official aviationweather.gov Data API covers METAR, TAF, PIREPs and SIGMETs, but not NOTAMs. This tool only decodes text you already have. To actually retrieve current NOTAMs for a flight, use one of the official sources below:
- FAA NOTAM Search — the official U.S. NOTAM lookup tool.
- Defense Internet NOTAM Service (DINS)
- FAA B4UFLY — for drone-specific airspace advisories (see our airspace page for more regional tools).
What each field means
- Q) line — a coded summary: FIR, the five-letter Q-code (subject + status), traffic type, purpose, scope, lower/upper altitude limits, and a center point + radius.
- A) — the ICAO location identifier(s) the NOTAM applies to.
- B) / C) — the effective start and end time, in UTC (or
PERM/UFNfor permanent / until further notice). - D) — a schedule, if the NOTAM only applies at specific times.
- E) — the free-text description of what is actually happening; this is where most aviation contractions (RWY, CLSD, WIP, etc.) show up.
- F) / G) — lower and upper altitude/flight-level limits.
